I have been searching around for places to buy fish emulsion, or liquidized fish. I can not find reasonable prices anywhere. Why? Anyone have any thoughts?

It is expensive I was paying $50 a gallon. Last year I found a recipe online to make your own fish hydrolysate. I gave it a try and made 10 gallons. It's very simple to make and my plants seemed to like it. I do a lot of ice fishing so I used smelt. I'll post a link to the recipe below incase anyone is interested.

Yes blue silver I did. You can make that also. Most of the ingredients you probably already have at home.

Thanks Caper842, that was extremely helpful. Do you know if it can be done without the lacto bacilli?

Grower216 I'm not sure but I think the lactobacillus is needed to break down the fish. The lacto is simple to make but if you don't want to make it you can buy em1 or SCD Bio ag it will do the same thing.

Where do you get those? I was just wondering, because it seemed like a long step, and I wanted to know if it was necessary for the end product. Thanks for the help.

Thanks a lot. I just did not want to have to wait for it to ferment for..... what was it? 2 weeks? I can't remember, but it was a while. That would make it harder to make it.
