I have heard a lot of things about foliar feeding in these posts but no one has mentioned anything about “best times” to foliar feed. I see a lot of people do it when misting or cooling during high heat. The thing with this is, plants are not feeding through leaves at high temperatures and sun. Pores in plant leaves open during cooler times to exchange waste and take in necessities. The best times to foliar feed are in the early morning or evening when pores are open in the leaves. I have always done it this way. Of course those of you worried about disease and wet leaves at night, feed only in the morning!

Best time to foliar feed is as late in the day as possible while leaving time to be dry for the night time hours. The method of foliar feeding makes no difference. This is a wet dry consideration.

There are application efficiency differences. Little can get to the bottom sides of the leaves from overhead misting or overhead sprinkling. Hand held spraying or fogging of fertilizer, insecticides and fungicides is the most efficient whole plant approach.
