According to my soil test my main need is Magnesium. I was thinking of using Epsom salts to bring it up. What are typical rates you guys use for 1000 square feet? What ppm do you like to see? Also, do you apply in fall or spring?
Thanks

You need about 100ppm, but I don't know the application rate. It will leach out in rain, so it's best applied in spring. Alternatively, you could try foliar application.

Thanks Gerald. I'm thinking of adding a little in the spring, and then including it in my feeding program throughout the season in light doses.

Hey Dan, I have always been low in mg and have used Epson salts with good results. I used 8 lbs per 1000 sq ft in spring into the soil. We then added to my 250 gallon tank at 100ppm like Gerald said, and we did that every 2 weeks. Tissue tests this year really helped and I increased the ppm according to test results.

North Shore Boyz, after your 8lbs, and feeding program how much did your soil ppm increase?

I do just like north shore and can usually stay right in the sweet spot. Feeding them just a little with each and every water.

Hey Dan, magnesium leeches pretty easily here (we get a lot of rain) but my spring test was 385ppm and fall test was 435ppm so not a lot of it stayed in the soil. A little bit very often in the overhead watering system must have been enough as my tissue tests were right in the optimum zone.
