Mixed with plain well water here, after a minute it turns from that light green to almost Gatorade orange. Any idea if that's normal? There was no precipitate.

Sounds like you got a reaction your well water. Do you have any Distilled water you can try a sample on? What is the PH of your well water. As it is coming out and after it has rested.
