Anybody use this at all during the growing season? I remember using it when I was doing hydroponic gardening several years ago to raise the ph of (nutrient solution) in my reservoir.

I was wrong, I used it to lower ph. More acidic. Here is a fair article on epsom salts.

Epson Salt is Magnesium Sulfate. Magnesium is a key element in the production of chlorophyll and the photosynthesis process required for plant life. If soil tests reveal a deficiency in magnesium Epson Salt may be considered. Check with your supplier as to application for your patch size and test indicated needs.

If your foliar program includes magnesium there may be no need to play with soil adjustments for minor shortages.
