So I bought a 55lb bag of 5-23-32 from the local farm supply decided to experiment with dissolving it into water, not a lot I can find on it, most people say stay away due to application amounts, but as a chemical engineer I can do the math on percentages per gallon of water easy enough. I suppose my limiting factor may be whether it was designed as a slow release or not.

Shawn, there are many liquid and or soluble fertilizers available. Both granular and soluble can have a place in your fertilizing program. Buying them is a lot easier then trying to convert them into something that they are not. Good luck.

Hi shawn,
I also use a granular fert, which I then turn into a liquid fert. Although I do mine differently I put my granular fert into compost and age it. This then allows for microbes to attack it and break it down into a stable form with little risks of applying high amount of unstable nitrates which can do damage. After further aging this is then added to make a aerobic compost tea, which Ive had great results with.
