Ok, I've been looking at compost tea and would like to know, is it a must to drench the soil with compost tea? I believe that it is best to use it on the leaves but if it is worth drenching please let me know. Im asking this because if 2 gallons of consentrated soil soup is all I can fit in my bugit it wouldn't be enough to spray 4 gallons of diluted soil soup on 2 plants and use 60 gallons to drench the soil for the whole growing season. Also, how much worm castings do I need for making compost tea throughout the year if I have 2 plants and I use the worm castings along with soil soup? Also, for whichever way you apply compost tea,how much do you use per plant? Thanks to everyone who has helped me out with my questions.

Ashton, just query Tad12 and you will learn all you need to know about CT. A five gallon batch of compost tea costs almost nothing, assuming you already have some of the basic ingredients on hand. Read some of the posts and you will get a better idea.

FYI- one of the newest members of our club is also the head guy for the Town of Wolfville Parks and Rec. The only thing they use now on the football, soccer fields, planters etc. is compost tea. He showed us airial shots, before and after and the difference is amazing. The Town is also saving a ton of money by getting away from artificial ferts.

i would do a compost tea a couple times a week,, and as for worm castings i would put a lb of them in a cotton sack once a week ,, i think you would need way more then 60 gallons for 2 plants for a season,,i well probably be using 20 gallons each watering of the tea and problly be doing it 2 times a week so thats 40 gallons for 2-3 plants a week

Ashton, go to the compost tea message board and read, read , read. Don't think in terms of watering volume where some growers water hundreds of gallons of water a week. With compost tea you want to improve/increase the microbial activity and diversity in your soil which will in turn help your plants to access the nutrients they require. Give your plants what they want and they will take what they need. You don't need 60 gallons a week by a long shot, just sift through the posts on the compost tea message board.

Ashton , Andy is right. If you take the time to sift thru it there is a lot of info on the CT message board. I've brewed CT many times and I still refer to that message board all the time.
