I am planning on using a shade cloth this season for sure to keep the Georgia sun off of my plant. I am on a budget and was wanting to get a misting system as well. would overhead irrigation do alright? thanks for your advice!

We grow in sc and have used both misting, shade net and a combination of both.
When you use overhead,,,misting or regular irrigation, you have to allow for suffient time for leaves to dry up. Georgia, SC and probably most southern states have just about the perfect conditions for disease, because its hot and humid. If you add overhead to that, at times that can be like pooring gasoline on fire. Make sure you have a good preventitive disease program, suffient airflow within the plants (good pruning) and dont over water it ( let leafs dry out inbetween mistings). Same goes for soil, dont keep it wet all the time, our southern conditions can spark dreades soil issues.

Rather loose a couple of leaves to sun and scorching, then an entire plant to disease. A 30% shade net goes a long way in keeping your plants protected. Misting is an option, but not a must. Good luck
