This is pretty simple math, but I wanted to really know where I was at, and how much water I was putting on. so I will share it with you. I'm running Starr system with Dan Micros. I flipped the last 10 ft section from union upside down and put a pail under the last head. I ran the zone for one minute and collected the water. 6 cups or .375 gallons per minute. I have 24 heads in my zone. Multiply the 2 (.375 x 24) or 6 cups x 24 heads/16 cups per gallon, either way you get 9 gallons/minute per zone.
So I need to run each zone roughly 10 minutes to get 80-90 gallons per plant. I say roughly because pressure drops off a little as tank recharges. I was running them 20-30 minutes before I did this simple calculation. Now the HOW OFTEN? thats still a dig down 6 inches and check thing for me. Of course if I screwed up the simple math... sombody let me know!!

Tremor posted this a few years back;

All of these quantities are for ONE INCH of water. First figure out your rate of flow with a bucket. See how much water you get per minute. I get 4 gallons per minute or 240 gallons per hour.

1 acre (43,560 sq ft) = 27,000 gallons
1,000 sq ft = 620 gallons
100 sq ft = 62 gallons
10 sq ft = 6.2 gallons
1 sq ft = 2.5 quarts

So if you want 1" of water then just figure out how large your plant is and what percentage of 620 gallons (1" over 1000 sq ft).

So, in your case to cover 1000 sq ft of patch with 1" of water you would water 10 minutes per day x 7 days in the week = 630 gallons (based on 90 gallons per day)

My brain hurts...but ya basic math if you use the 620 gallons of water per week per 1000 sq ft.

ok using these numbers, Im putting out 540 gallons per hour per 1000sqft. SO 620/540 = 1.15 hrs divided by 7 days = .164 * 60 minutes = 9.84 minutes per day to get 1" per week. Bingo!! thanks
