Im going to be doing a diary later in the year for my homemade fish emulsion and pumpkin growth. Anyone that is close to a river or creek can make it. The basic steps are: 1. 5 gallon Bucket 2. 3-5 Large Suckers (10-15 inches) 3. 1 gallon of water 4. cover the bucket and leave in the sun
It generally takes about 2 weeks for the fish and bones to break down into a red-ish sludge. Add a cup of Sludge per gallon of water. Or play around with which amount works best for you. If you dont mind flies or other bugs getting in the bucket saran wrap over the bucket.

I put 1/2 a pound of fish in the blender with water, strain, mix with 5 gallons of water. Liquid fish.

There is no smell, it actually smells fresh. I have done it the let it decompose way and I hated the smell.

I catch them or go to the oriental grocery store and buy a frozen one, this year I am hoping to catch a few big size carp.

Carp are the easiest to get especially if you live near a reserve or pond. Suckers are just easy access for me with the cast net. Smell doesnt really bother me because its apart of how i make a living. Although i have thought about giving Mike Rowe a call on a few occasions lol

I live on a river full of carp,Should I just gut & chop up fish & mix with leaf & grass clippings,My pile is about 90 yds.or so plus Im adding eggshells/coffee grounds /kitchen scraps.I dont want to do Emulsion(liguid) Im afraid of the coons getting in my patch with the odor.

Forgot to mention, the reason i use the Suckers instead of Carp is because of the scales. The Carp Scales take longer to break down and also they have more bones.
I dont really worry about the Coons because if i see them on my game camera i will putting out the trap the next day and relocating them

I originaly wanted to just bury the fish under the seed, but I did not want a raccoon or other varmit digging up my high valued seed, so I ended up blending the fish pieces at a time, fresher, better and cheaper than store bought.

I think it needs more time to break down, placing it under the seed would be to soon.Im thinking 1 year to breakdown flipping pile every 2 months.

Every summer in my regular garden I dig down 12in.or more and dump all my yellowtail, yellowfin, bluefin, skipjack and white seabass after cutting all the fillets. Some of the backbones are 3 to 4 feet with ribs and all,,,,,,,by the next season I hardly ever find even a bone,,,,,,,,just nice black soil from the madness going on down below!
