I have been doing research on Irrigation Fertilizer injection systems to reduce my workload a bit in the patch.

To start I have pretty low water pressure so I cannot use a system like the Mazzei that reduces water pressure. My current water pressure is enough to run one overhead whiz head at a time.

I have looked at the EZ flow and it looks like this is a pretty good option for my situation. The only problem is the cost of it, just seems a little steep priced for what you get!

After looking at the design of it, it seems very similar to the Ortho dial and spray hose end sprayer which I currently use for soil drenching (Yeah, it takes a while!)

Has anyone successfully modified the Ortho dial and spray hose end sprayer to work as a fertilizer injection system? It appears it can be modified rather cheaply by putting a hose end connector on the output side and if you wanted it to hold more fertilizer either find or modify the container to a larger size and increase the length of tubing to go to the bottom of the container.

I am new to the fertilizer injection game, am I way off on this or has it been done?

Also if anybody has any other contraptions they have made please list them.

Also, Any ideas on inexpensive ways to increase water pressure from a city water supply?

You can get a in-line irrigation pump to boost your city water. It can also be hooked up to a 50 gallon drum to pump out custom fertilizer mixes. I used this set up and the under the canopy sprinklers that the extreme pumpkin store sells and it worked great

Use consecutively smaller diameter water lines... that's what we do on our farm when we have low pressure. I have one faucet connected to a 50 gallon drum,connected to a drip line ~1mile worth. Also connected to a high flow sprinkler that covers 3500 square feet. pressure is great. I hope this helps.

Miracle Grow made a hose end applicator that had in and out hose fittings. Don't know if they are still available though. Might fit your need.

Dick,

I used that very same applicator as an injector in my earlier days of growing, but the downside was that the water enters it and continues to dilute and apply. I never knew when ALL the fertilizer was applied or how much water it would take to do it. That's what made me decide to buy the EZ-Flow.

I use the smallest (3/4 gallon) ez flow injector for years and it works great! Highly recommend and easy to use.
