Hello - first time grower here again. Being fairly low-tech, I was planning on using miracle gro for fertilizer and was wondering about frequency. One T. per one G. of water once a week? Thanks in advance for your feedback and any other fertilizing tips. WannabeBIG

My fertilizing strategy looks like this, starting 10-20 days after germination (about when you transplant outside):
4 weeks of high phosphorous, like Miracle Grow 15-30-15, plus seaweed emulsion
4 weeks of high nitrogen, like Miracle Grow 36-6-6 (common lawn formulation), plus fish and seaweed emulsion
7 weeks of balanced formulation, like Peters Plantfood 20-20-20, plus fish and seaweed emulsion
4 weeks of high potassium formulations like Muriate of Potash (0-0-60), plus fish and seaweed emulsion
After that (early September for me), I apply just seaweed emulsion.
In case this looks suspiciously familiar, this plan is striaght from Don Langevin's book, "How to Grow World Class Giant Pumpkins, II" page 75. If you don't already have a copy, get a copy. It's $17.95, and it's ISBN # 0-9632793-5-1. It's available at Amazon.com, and no, I don't get kickbacks. It's just that useful. ;-)
