Can someone explain to me what I need to do in order to get a plant tissue analysis done?
Where is a good lab to have this done?
What do I send them? Do I cut whole leaves off from the main vine? (Yikes !!). Side vines ok? Do I use new growth or older growth?
As much detail as possible would be great.
Thanks! ghopson427@yahoo.com

That's a good link Brooks!
The work Ron Wallace was doing asked for the newest fully developed leaf (about the size of your out stretched hand). This does not mean a full grown leaf, but one that has completely unfurled. This is usually 4-5 leaves back from the tip. You can take from the main and the secondaries. You should have 5 or 6 leaves in total. You should test before fruit set. You should pick them in the morning and ship by overnight courier. You should pack in paper, not plastic.
We tested this way last year and it did reveal some issues that we didn't know we had.

greg, i used A and L last year. was very happy with it. i grew a tertiary out and then clipped it off and used the appropriated sized leaves (as john said) on it, so i didn't have to sacrifice good leaves from the plant. overnight shipping was expensive, but worth the money in my opinion. only thing low on mine was calcium.

Once you pick the lab:
Nutrient tissue test: Snip only new leaves. More is better so rape tertiaries. Lay them in a large box with a sheet of newspaper between each leaf.
Send it next day air only Mon-Weds. Call ahead.
Pathology: Call the pathologist, collect diseased AND healthy tissue icluding the marginal material. Follow the above shipping regime.
