i am testing manure this year,i am planting 845 bobier sibb at 8 different sites of manure, beef cow, dairy cow, lamb, goat, horse, pig, rabbit, guinea pig,10 lb calcium nitrate,10 lb 18-46-0,will be mixed at each location when first planted, then each site will have the same amout of any thing i will apply threw out growing season,i will cross the 845 x 865 mettler=845 x 1092 burke=845 x 935=845 x 922.5 emmons=845 x 825.5 shymanski=845 x 723=845 x 846=845 x 780 eaton=845 x 805 pukos,if you can guess which pile of manure will grow the biggest fruit, and the closer weight of the fruit,i will send you 20 seed of each cross.

Now this is the kind of thread i can really get into! LOL....btw Heavy Grower, when you make these crosses its not 845 x whatever......its the 845 sibb pumpkin, whatever that weight was. Say the seed you're growing was from David Garrell's fruit, the 821, which is the 845 x sibb. To avoid confusion among some of the new growers you might want to consider saying that you are growing the 821 Garrell, which is an 845 Bobier sibbed, and your crosses will be as follows: 821x935, 821x805pukos....or whatever else you are going to cross with it. Heavy,
I guess you're not done hauling manure yet! What about chicken, turkey, bat, ostrich, turtle, salamander, rattlesnake, deer, elk, moose, etc.,etc.,etc? Are you using equal amounts at each site? Nutrients leech out of manure, how will you make sure it's all the same "age"? Do all sites receive the same daylight & water? What about nutrients that exist already in the soil? What about comparing the manure of one animal to another of the same species(Will it vary?)? Will all plants receive the same amount of insect, mouse, deer, sun, and fungus damage? There's just too many variables here. My guess is the plant with the biggest fruit will produce the biggest pumpkin!

My guess is horse.....tho' I do admit to be to be a bit onesided, (we have 3 horse type manure producers busily making the wonderful stuff right now as I type) In fact, my whole pumpkin patch consists entirely of horse manure...fresh to several years old.

at 1:00 every day i hop in the truck drive around to farmers house and ask for manure,i have cleand out a few barns, and i have never been turned down they are willing to get rid of for free, yesterday while out i found a 2 1/2 ton truck with good single dump for $600.00 dollars in good shape, have not bought yet trying to talk jasper in paying for half, plates alone in il cost $300.00 bucks,so every one that knows the rich mayor from belknap jasper, make him fork out some money for a manure hauler.
