after about 5 to 6 weeks of the ground being covered with snow its finally warmed up enough that I can finally see my cover crop!,lol,,,Hows your cover crop looking after the frigid cold and all this snow?(here in Ohio anyway) My winter wheat and rye are looking A-OK!,by far the best year I have had as far as growing a cover crop . I think the main reason it looks so good is because I started my seeds soon after the season was over and the weather was still kinda warm.

Looking better then I thought it would.. All the snow melted and the winter rye and vetch look pretty perky. about 4-5" long. Going to be around 60 today. Time to turn the compost pile

I mowed mine down Saturday and it was over 8" tall and looking good. I then tilled it under.

Remember to add organic matter with a cover crop it should be cut and allowed to dry before being turn in. Other wise it is a green manure and decomposes quickly and actually ties up some of the nitrogen.
