I know that you should use organic fertilizers so you don't kill your microbe allies, but it is a little hard to come by blood meal, bone meal, etc. where I live. I bought some 5-10-5 fertilizer and was wondering if it's ok to use because of its low strength. Oh, almost forgot. It is derived from ammonium sulfate, triple superphosphate, and muriate of potash.

This fertilizer is no more or less dangerous than 10-20-10. It just contains a fertilizer grade limestone filler that is equal to the quantity of AS, TS & MOP. There is virtually no difference in salt index either.

That said, there is also very little chance of upsetting the microbiology of the soil IF the rate is calculated sensibly & executed with equal care.

Ok. I only used 1/4 cup of it and made sure I put it on no less than 3 inches away from the base of the plant as said on the directions.

I had alot of troulble finding that stuff too. Go to your nersery that is just a nersury. Not a home imporvment store that has a nersury on the side. I found every thing i needed and it was cheap. Your last resort is ebay or online.

Hey everyone. I also used 5-10-5 Miracle Grow two days ago. I mixed 1/2 capful per 2 gallons of H20 at a rate of 1 gal. per plant. Did I add too much?? I also got some on the plant itself by accident. My plants are only about 6" tall and haven't layed down yet. Got them in too late. Any suggestions?
