My rain barrell has this stuff on the sides, I assume its algae, will this harm my plants? Once I empty the rain barrell should I scrub out the algae or just leave it. Once the water is gone, the stuff on the side is dried up crud...I only wish I have more barrells, but some is better than none. Thanks everyone. Croley

Stevann, look around for barrels, dark colored ones will warm faster, and lessen algae problems...I found em at a local bakery...originally used for flavored syrups!!! No toxic chemicals!!! $4 ea for 55 gallon drums!! Hope this helps!! Peace, Wayne

Thanks for answering...my barrels held apple juice..wish Owensboro wasnt so far..I paid $10 a barrell. They are blue. I wont worry about the algae, it just clogs my line, but no big deal. thanks again.
