This spring I brodcast about 100 pounds of granular humic acid on about 3200 square feet of garden. Our soil is alkaline so I thought it wouldnt hurt. Does anyone know how much is too much ? Do I add it every year? I had the best looking plants ever and likely a personnal best. I attribute that to soil soup and possibly the humic acid.

In some respects, the answer depends on the %OM of a soil test. The CEC is useful data too since it speaks to the physical nature of the soil.

20 lobs of Humic Acid granular is the norm but this depends somewhat on the type of HA you have. Some is quite soluble (good - use less) while others lack solubility (bad - need more).

tremor,my soil started as a sandy loam. more sand than loam. Ive actually added clay appr. one inch. The cec is about 25. Do I add it yearly. I cant remember the specifics on the product i used. It was mined in new mexico,had a good % humic with a Ph around 6.
