Anyone with white spots would you please review the message of White Spots Revisited and comment. There seems to be a number of growers having similar issues. Its starting to look like a combination of lack of rain and fertilizing or just too much fertilizer(nitrogen). Hard to believe it's genetic when 4 unrelated plants exhibit the same symptoms. There may be some lines that are more sensitive than others but...... Lots of big, strong vines in Virginia

I seem to have some white spots also, but I thought it was heat damage. I'll try to post a picture this weekend.

Thanks for bringing this back up as I asked as well with no reply. I posted a pic of my pumpkin at nine days old here for ya to see...

As you can see white streaks from the stem end and white/cream spots over the pumpkin.
They haven't gotten worse day 13 now and Pork Chop continues to grow at a good rate. So if there is a cure I would really like to know about it so I can fix it before it possibly causes an abort.
Observation:
No insect problem, plant looks good and healthy except for some very minor sun burnt leaves. So my opinion would be either a)genetics (which is unlikely) or b)a deficiancy of some sort. I don't think it is from to much N as this plant never got any high N. Just 15-30-15 and then 20-20-20 now on 15-15-30 also sprayed with seaweed and drench with fish.
Any help from da pro's???

Ernie, Your white spots are not normal, but I am almost certain you have nothing to worry about. I had a 810 Dill a few years back that was like that, and it turned out a nice deep red color.
