This year is my first year growing big max the year before I planted connecticut field. Well the thing I noticed in my big max plants were that there were was no pollen in any of the male flowers to pollinate the females with. Is this normal? If not what can I do to solve this problem?

Are you covering the flowers ight before???? If not, the bees could be snatching all your pollen.

Bees are probably robbing you blind.Go out to your patch after dark and find the males that you think are gonna open the next morning and cinch down the tops with a bread tie or cover with a ziploc baggie.

I saw up to 5 bees at once in one flower. They really like the colour and the taste. I heard about a receipe to bake flowers, must be delicious.

I was having the same issue, used some of my daughter's hair braid rubber bands to close everything up and had practically enough pollen in one to do the job, where it was taking 4. I did a step by step on it you can look at here: www.lsitek.com/pumpkins I'm going to follow this one plant pretty close to see how it turns out. Some of the veterans say the lobe development on this female is perfect.

Kinda crosses you up in the head talking about this doesn't it? :p
