Just a question, everyone seems to be storing their water in elevated black water tanks, or something similar. With the water gettting warm, do things start to grow? I have never heard anyone talk about it, I figure that everyone must go through the water fast enough that it isn't a problem. We are looking to buy a water tank in the next couple of days, and my wife asked me about it. So am I right in my thinking or is there something else to it? Thanks!

The rate the water is used prbly does minimize any fungal growth in the tank, also the dark color stops light from getting in, which also helps minimize any fungal growth. Or, that is the way I understand it!!! Peace, Wayne

PP,
I have a 50 gallon tank for 250 SF and that is too small...for me because it takes so long to refill with RO water.
This should give you a point of reference.

I only have one, maybe two plants, and a well with a hydrant right next to my tank. So I think I will be ok.

Gee, I would love to have a 200 gallon tank, at least one could use it to disapate Chlorine, add ferts and adjust Ph if one wants......

PP,
Why not just use your hydrant for irrigation? Or are you adding ferts to stored water?

I thought that warm water was better than the cold water? That is the main reason. Hey Wiz I went to a farm auction today and found it and a twin in a pile, I got it for free! If you come out in the next 3 days you can have the other one, however it has a split in it. If you come, don't bring any of longbeards tree rats with you!

PP, just a thought that recently worked for me..any local farmers? I happen to hunt on nearby farm...know owners well..checked with them on possible water tank...happens that there was a couple sitting around..from old fert program that had developed a split at top..essence is that they are no good for his pressure sprayer on tractor set-up..he was more than happy to have me remove it from property...happen to wind up with almost a 1000 gal tank...split near top..should still hold close to 800-900 gal of water...just a thought..maybe check ur local farmers...hope it helps..grow 'em big...joe

I ended up getting a tank for free, then my stand tipped over when I filled it and the tank broke, I will have to keep searching. Yeah, I know a lot of farmers around here that is how I got the first tank.

Local nurseries (tree growers), landscapers, or greenhouse (retail plant sales), might also be worth a look. Peace, Wayne
