How soon after fruit set should a grower start applying potash? And what would be a good average application rate? Thanks for the replies.....Shawn

That's a great question Stoney...I've been wondering that myself? I don't know of any water soluable so if it granular it's going to take a while to break down and be available to the plant. I got two bags of Epsoma potash 0-0-60 and sulfate of potash magnesia 0-0-22. Both are bulky granular,about half a pea size. I would think that this should be put down soon to have it root ready next month. Any help here guys would be appreciated. Got plenty of female flowers on should start pollenating next week. This week ends the plants twice weekly feeding of 20-20-20.

Age old organics sells a 0-0-60 potash that is a blue powder and super water soluable. Got the reference from don langevin's book number 2. good luck

Hey Chuck,,the 0-0-60 breaks down fast,,I apply and after a couple days,,you dont see it no more..Dont know if the plant gets it that quick,,but it breaks down fast ...

So if you have vines set and somewhat rooted, how do you apply the granular? I imagine if you can find the water soluable you just add it into one of your normal waterings?

0-0-60 "granular" (reddish color) will disolve in water, even though not considered a true water soluble. Ask for Muriate of Potash.

Be careful when you apply 0-0-60 Muriate of Potash, it will BURN any leaves that it comes in contact with.

Well, I applied potash (K2O) 0-0-60,on my pumpkins today. I took about 1/4 pound, dissolved it in 2 gallons of water and applied it around the parimeter of the pumpkin with set fruit on it. Since I've never used it before, I was worried about how much to use, so I tried to make it very dilute and spread it around. Hopefully it will help.

Does this seem like the normal way to apply and the right amount?
