have a former pond used by cows now its not. I want to use the water for veggies and pumpkins as its right there but 1000 feet to far from house. whats a good way to do it. i dont want a water gun or anything. can i buy a water pump and use a hose instead of irrigation pipe.

I recommend you get a "trash" pump, one that will pump more than clear water.(Because you will)! I also recommend a high pressure model, the one I use Pumps 75 psi. You can use hose, I use pvc pipe and fittings. Don't pump from the bottom of the pond (heavy metal buid-up) or the surface (phytophthera), but somewhere in between. I also recommend a check valve to prevent backflow. E-mail me if you have any other questions!

You will need to know the "head" elevation before matching it to a pump.

I used a sump pump with good results. It'll transfer a lot of water fast but not under much pressure. I used a 5 gallon pail full of holes and lined with screen to keep trash out. I connected the pump to some pipe to run to the garden. For electricity I used about 300' of electrical cord. If electricity is not an option than you'll need a gas powered trash pump, these can provide more pressure.

In addition to the above really good advise I suggest the use of one or more 200 mesh line filters. I use a "y" strainer that can be flushed to keep it clean.
