The question is how much fertilizer is to much? Right now I'm fertilizing every other day 1/2 lb of 18-19-30. For 3 plants covering a 48x60 space. The best days of growth come after fertilizing. Should one fertilize evry day?

Hi Mark!
Slow and easy wins the race if you want to finish with a pumpkin! I have seen these suckers literally explode on the vine. I have found it best to fertilize once every 7-10 days. I also double up on potassium for about 3 weeks in August, this builds cell walls. When growth slows down in September, I use no fertilizer, and let pumpkin finish out on it's own. You can try pushing it, but you may be sorry! Good luck!

This topic seems to come up quite a bit...
Would one of our more experience growers be interested in writing an article on fertilizer and its application?
I don't mean to discourage questions on this topic, I just think it would be a worthy addition to the How-To page.
If you would be interested, please reply privately.

Hey, Every other day sounds like too much, but whatever Mark is doing must be right, he's got the biggest pumpkins of all of us.

I have the following Routine that I am using on my two plants. I have only one pumpkin on each plant,
PER PLANT
first day Johnson's 20 - 20 - 20 - 1/2 pound and 28 gallons of water applyed by a soaker at the end of a hose. I move the soaker around to distribute the water and firtizler. ( please excuse the spelling key board is a little slow waking up)
Second day I use 30 ounces of Liquid kelp to 28 gallons of water and apply the same as above.
Third day 30 ounces of fish emulsion to 28 gallons of water applied as above
Fourth Day 28 gallons water applied same way
fifth day start routine over
I get no rain in beautiful Southern California at this time of year
