I moved to Kansas in 2005, and gave up on cucurbits due to svbs.

I focused on other things, and found myself diving deep into Permaculture. I've had a Permaculture Design Certificate for over 6 years now, and I've moved to North Idaho. We are ready to get back into AGs, but none of my old seeds are germinating. They are all too old at this point.

Does anyone have some good genetics they'd be willing to donate so my family can get started again?

The seeds we still have are around 20 years old. I've had zero success germinating so far. I've attempted with around 20 of them so far. Filing, soaking overnight in 3% hydrogen peroxide, then incubating in 80°F environment. No growth. Just moldy.

Once it's Grow Time, try a few more just for fun without ANY special treatment and a germ temp of 88-92 - sometimes they don't even wanna be treated specially, and the sooner they sprout the better to maybe beat the mold, hence a higher temp. Also, just 2-3 hours in 3% is good, disturbing them frequently, then stick into plain water in the fridge until the next day unless planting in SS mix immediately; I dry my seeds at 98-100 MAX., so it won't hurt the seeds to sprout them at a low 90*F or so. Else, good luck getting seeds, as you'll be hit with others' below this reply, so DO get ahold of those - and let us know if any of the Great ones DO ever sprout! - eg
PS - You CAN look these over if you want more variety than what pops up.
Happy Growing! >>> No pressure & just for reference;

20 is too old, unless refrigerated.

They grow old fast... at about the same rate as kids? They need a chance to sprout into adults, in either case... before age 20 would be good.

how many old ones do you have to that you could try unspecial treatments? would an ultrasonic soaker awake something? I do not know...

I dont think he is trying to win the old seed contest here. A few of us have bulging stashes of newer seeds, with good potential. It seems like a reasonable request... :)

Cold Dirt, you are onto me...

I may still have some special seeds in my collection. I'll look. If I do, I'll post what they are and see if someone wants to give it a go.

I found my old diary; 2004. I've learned a lot since then.

I've received a few seed offers and I am so grateful! Because of what I do for a living (I'm the only realtor in Idaho with a permaculture design certificate that I know of), I have a huge network of friends who are homesteaders and permaculturists. Send me your seeds and at least a few of these folks will grow them. ;-D
