Anybody know if Dill's Atlantic Giant will do well in our hot, humid Raleigh summers?

Are there any differences in the varieties grown in North Carolina vs. more northern climates?

Some plants tend to hold up better under the heat. The seeds are the same. I would recommend some sort of shade system. At Least something the protect new tip vine growth on the main.

The record for North Carolina is 1258 Pounds grown in Winston Salem. Thats a little small compared to the northern states but not horrible by any means. Try to find a seed that has been grown in a warm climate and done well before. You should use shade protection and possibly use misters to cool the plant as well.

Looks like your in 7a zone. Check out the new growers club for hot climates. http://sgpgrowers.wix.com/homepage . Shade is a must. Some crosses seem to tolerate the heat better than others. Good luck.
