Could you take nuts from any pecan tree and plant or does it have to be a grafted tree?

If you plant from a nut it will take up to 15 years to harvest first pecans. Generally it only takes around 3-4 if starting from a graft. Then there is the problem of having 2 different types so that you can get pollination (they don't produce male and female blooms simultaneously)
