Seven ovaries, 13 rib segments. These two were both on secondaries. In theory they should yield a 30% larger pumpkin. A normal pumpkin would have 10 rib segments.
Its the extra rib segments that would add extra weight, not the ovaries. The ovaries are mostly spongy and hollow. These two would have made nice pumpkins. I'm not a top grower, so nothing I grow will be impressive, but if I was a top grower I would be vexed thinking about whether a bigger baby on a side vine might grow a bigger pumpkin than a smaller baby on the main vine...
