Step 2. Detach the pumpkin in an unusual way. I left the outer portion of the vine, both as an experiment and because I do have another pumpkin set on this plant, which could use all the help it can get. So I detached this pumpkin but the vine is still viable. A few extra leaves for the remaining pumpkin. (What about all those leaves covered in weeds??? Yes ...My weeds are doing great.)
