They did have assistence though. The round hay bale placed in December is probably in the mid sixties or even seventy degrees. You can kinda see the outline of it. Also the seeds were presoaked in warm water.
The timing of the hay bale placement was just right. I think it is ready for roots. Rather well decomposed now... oxygen levels are high enough and pathogen levels are low enough now. I had my doubts all along but I actually believe this is a viable substitute for electric heating cables. I'm surprised how well it seems to be working so far.
