I tried to leave all the two year wood on this cherry. I will prune it down farther after it bears fruit. Normally I would cut more. Instead, I will prune it down farther in July at the same time I'm harvesting any fruit. I think this idea might work well, it's worth a try. Btw... Fruit size is all about the phloem... That's what I've learned so far.

The cherry orchard guys prune every branch 1/3 or 2/3 of the way back so the tree will make larger cherries. They want to concentrate the phloem on fewer numbers of blossoms so the get real big. I can't guarantee good pollination the way they can though! So I'm choosing to leave all the blossoms (on this one, anyhow).

I'll post the results in mid July.
