So after about 15 hours of work over the past few days, here is what the patch now looks like.
Compared to the picture a few days ago it has really improved! Added some compost and evenly spread it to areas of the soil that needed it (mostly where I had expanded the patch).
Also added some more goodies to the soil.
I feel confident about my soil as of now.
